Kempton Antique Market was established in 1979 and is one of the UK and Europe’s largest and best-loved antique fairs. It is a clear favorite amongst antiques enthusiasts and simply a must for the calendar. From the moment you step into any of the Sunbury Antiques events, you’ll feel the buzz in the air. There’s movement, chatter, and a shared sense of curiosity that connects everyone. With five unique events spread across different locations and days, you’ll always find something new to explore.
Each event is like its own little world filled with unique finds. You’ll come across classic antiques, quirky collectibles, beautifully aged furniture, and eye-catching artwork. For fashion lovers, there’s vintage clothing that tells a story. For those who enjoy home styling, the interiors section has just the charm your space might be missing.
Some items are decades old and full of character, while others are more recent but still lovingly preserved. From shiny silverware to rustic wooden cabinets, it’s all here. And yes, the thrill of the find is real—you never know what you’ll stumble upon next.
One of the things I love most about these markets is the local flair. Many stalls showcase handcrafted items—things made with real skill and heart. You’ll spot hand-painted ceramics, upcycled décor, and even homemade goods like candles or preserves, especially at Sandown or Denbies.
There’s also a quiet but growing focus on sustainable shopping. A lot of people now prefer buying second-hand, not just for the prices, but for the impact. These markets let you shop in a way that’s good for the planet and your wallet.
Each market brings in a wide mix of sellers. You’ll find hobbyists sharing their personal collections, seasoned traders with deep knowledge, and creative makers who bring something truly special to the table. There are people who’ve been doing this for years and others who are just starting out—but all of them bring passion to their stalls.
You might meet someone who specializes in mid-century furniture or a rare book collector with stories as rich as the books themselves. It’s that mix of passion and variety that keeps the experience fresh every time.
Every seller has a story, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’re not just buying things—you’re learning about where they came from, how they were made, or why they’re so loved.
A lot of sellers are locals, while others travel from across the country. Some are regulars who’ve been at this for decades, while others are weekend traders trying it out for the first time. There’s something heartwarming about talking to someone who’s excited to share their finds.
These are people who know their stuff. They’ll tell you what era a piece is from, how to care for it, or where they found it. It’s like getting a mini history lesson with every purchase.
At the Kempton Antique Market, I once met a stallholder who specialized in vintage toys—from tin robots to original board games still in their boxes. Over at Sandown, there’s a couple who collect Art Deco mirrors and always have a stunning display. At Denbies, I chatted with a jewelry expert who had some breathtaking antique brooches, each with a story behind it.
These kinds of moments stick with you. The sellers aren’t just there to make a sale—they’re there to connect.
There’s something really warm and human about Sunbury Antiques Markets. It’s not noisy or rushed—it’s friendly, relaxed, and full of character.
People greet each other by name. There are regulars who walk in with their reusable shopping bags and a plan. Families stroll along, pointing out interesting finds to each other. You see students looking for affordable décor, and interior designers hunting for that one standout piece. It feels welcoming no matter who you are.
New visitors often say how surprised they are by how easygoing and down-to-earth it all feels. That’s what makes you want to come back again and again.
While the focus is definitely on the antiques, there’s often more to enjoy. You might come across food trucks at the Sandown fair or hear some light music in the background at Denbies. These little extras make it feel more like a day out than just a shopping trip.
Some of the venues are in such beautiful settings too, like Denbies Wine Estate, where you’re surrounded by vineyards and countryside views. It makes the whole day feel like a getaway.
No need to worry about parking or facilities—it’s all taken care of, and done well.
Most venues are close to places where you can grab a bite or relax afterward. At Kempton Park, for example, you can pop into a nearby café for a warm drink after your treasure hunt. At Denbies, you’re right near a vineyard, which offers a lovely place to walk and unwind.
These extras mean you don’t have to rush your day. You can shop, then sit and soak in the experience.
All the markets offer free parking, and the layout makes it easy for everyone to access the stalls. Whether you’re bringing kids, coming with elderly family members, or have mobility needs, the spaces are well set up to accommodate.
There’s also a mix of indoor and outdoor options at most locations, so you can plan around the weather and your comfort.
What sets Sunbury Antiques apart isn’t just the quality of what’s sold—it’s the feeling you get while you’re there. It’s genuine. It’s easygoing. It feels like a community.
Compared to many other markets, this one manages to be both massive and personal. The vendors are friendly, the items are varied and fascinating, and the setting is never too crowded or rushed. The prices are also fair, especially considering the quality you often find.
It’s a great place whether you’re on a budget or looking for something truly special.
The venues are easy to reach and near some lovely spots. Kempton Park and Sandown are both well-connected by public transport. Wimbledon gives you a peek into charming Southwest London, and Denbies is close to nature walks and scenic views.
If you want to turn your visit into a full-day outing, there’s plenty nearby to explore.
The team behind Sunbury Antiques knows how to keep things exciting throughout the year. Each event brings something a little different, especially when it lines up with a holiday or themed weekend.
The Sunday markets at Sandown, Wimbledon, and Kempton were added for those who can’t make the midweek events, and they’ve become really popular. These weekend fairs give you more time to browse, especially if you’re visiting with family or coming from out of town.
Some markets have themed sales or even charity tie-ins. These special touches make the events feel festive and give regulars a new reason to keep coming back.
During the festive season, expect Christmas-themed stalls with decorations, vintage ornaments, and gift-worthy items. Around Easter and Halloween, there’s often a playful spin on displays and products too.
These seasonal touches add a bit of magic to the already exciting experience.
Come for the Antiques, Stay for the Experience
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned collector, Sunbury Antiques Markets are full of surprises. From rare finds to meaningful conversations, every visit feels like stepping into a story. So grab a coffee, bring a tote bag, and see what treasure you might uncover next.
Because sometimes, the best things aren’t just bought—they’re discovered.
